NewsEU Parliament advances organic plant breeding with new PRM legislation vote
BRUSSELS, 24 APRIL 2024 – Today’s vote on the Plant Reproductive Material Regulation (PRM) legislation could contribute to a balanced regulation and a conducive environment for organic plant breeding. Members of the European Parliament have endorsed most of the amendments proposed in the report of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (COMAGRI), recognising the important role seeds and seed diversity play for a healthy food and farming system.

ÖMKi coordinates the new BOOST4BIOEAST project
The Research Institute for Organic Agriculture (ÖMKi) for the very first time coordinates a Horizon Europe project, called BOOST4BIOEAST (B4B) which officially kicked off its activities on 1 January 2024. The aim of the B4B project is to empower national stakeholders in the Central Eastern European and Baltic countries to develop national bioeconomy action plans and to build long-lasting structures and spaces of dialogue for national and macro-regional cooperation.

AGROECOLOGY Partnership kick-off meeting – February 28-29, 2024
Last week, about 100 participants attended the kick-off meeting of the AGROECOLOGY Partnership at Bluepoint Brussels. AGROECOLOGY is the Horizon Europe co-funded Partnership ‘Accelerating Farming Systems Transition: Agroecology Living Labs and Research Infrastructures’. The Partnership started on January 1, 2024 and will have a duration of up to 10 years, with an overall budget up to 300 M€ (50% EU and 50% co-funded by the consortium).

Thanks to its diverse and expanding research activities and its increasing engagement in EU projects the Hungarian Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (ÖMKi) further strengthened the process of organic knowledge transfer in Hungary and the transition towards sustainability both at the national and the international level in 2023.
