DiverIMPACTS project meeting – Alnarp (Sweden)

The second annual general meeting of the arable crop diversification related research project called DiverIMPACTS was held this summer. A total of 34 institutions from 11 countries took part. The event was held at the Alnarp campus of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). Erik Steen Jensen, professor of the Department of Living Systems and Technologies, welcomed the participants on behalf of the university. He talked about how the university works, emphasizing the unique 3:1 ratio of students to lecturers (with PhDs) and he eulogized the institution’s exceptional atmosphere and its welcoming and green environment.

First European conference on crop diversification brings together more than 200 participants

The first European Conference on Crop Diversification took place from the 18th to the 21st of September 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. It explored the role of crop diversification and strategies towards sustainable agri-food systems. The DiverIMPACTS project, funded under the European Union’s Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020, convened the conference in collaboration with its partner projects Diverfarming, DIVERSify, ReMIX, LegValue, and TRUE as well as the German programme INSUSFAR. The local host was DiverIMPACTS partner ÖMKI, the Hungarian Research Institute of Organic Agriculture.

Our research made understandable: A muster of grains – the second act

In the summer we introduced you to some of the details of plant pathology testing we carried out in the field. When assessing crops, besides investigating the appearance of various ear diseases, we also examined the endurance and weed-suppressing ability of the plants, as well as their growth rate.
