Research with the participation of Hungarian farmers
The ÖMKi on-farm research network is a system of innovative experiments carried out on Hungarian organic farms. It was established in 2012 and since then, the number of participants has been increasing continuously. This is the first research network in Hungary that is based on the active participation of farmers: the topics of our simple experiments carried out under realistic conditions are determined together with the farmers.

Quality bread for everyone!
Bread made of biodiverse ancient cereals – e.g. emmer or einkorn landraces – is incommensurable with the common industrial bread. What are the hindering factors and the supporting solutions beyond the popularity of quality healthy bread? These issues have been discussed among farmers, millers, artisan bakers and the representatives of civil and research organizations related to the product path at our first workshop held on 10th February 2019.

Organic’s popularity is higher than ever!
“This is the fastest-growing agricultural sector in the world today” – this was the message of BIOFACH 2019, the international organic trade fair, which was organized with yet again a record number of exhibitors. In addition to the number of participants, the latest statistics also show that the organic sector is growing year by year. And even if numbers are often considered as dry facts, it’s worth paying attention to the senstaional growth, as it signals a significant agricultural economy potential.

ÖMKi 2018: successful year for organic farming
We were not lazy in 2018 either: we organized workshops in Hungary and abroad, we provided professional representation for the organic sector at several Hungarian and international forums, we organized an awareness raising campaign for the wide public, and our on-farm network won the Oscar award of the energy sector. It was a busy year for us, but due to our achievements the common goal – a flourishing Hungarian organic farming sector – is one step closer.
